FALL SEMESTER: • Meet with College Representatives who visit school and/or attend a College Fair when available • Plan to make campus visits of colleges you are interested in attending. Many schools provide a link on their webpage to set up a visit. See Mrs. Foltz if you are planning a visit for further guidelines. • Narrow down your list of college possibilities. Visit school websites to learn more about colleges of interest. • Take online career interest inventories to help you think about appropriate college majors. • Retake the GQE (if necessary) in September. • Take the PSAT/NMSQT in October.
SPRING SEMESTER: • Take the GQE (if necessary) in March. • Sign up early to take the SAT/ACT at www.act.org or www. collegeboard.com. Fee waivers are available in the Guidance Office for students who are on free/reduce lunch and textbooks. See Mrs. Foltz for guidelines. • Start thinking about Financial Aid: Start researching scholarship websites, talk to your parents about the cost of college, continue to put money into your college savings. • Review your transcript with Mrs. Foltz and sign up for senior classes. • Prepare for Core 40 ECA and AP exams which are administered in May. • Plan summer activities early—look for a job, enrich yourself by volunteering or sign up for summer school.
